The Market is Nareth's shared marketplace. You put your items up as listings, and other players can buy them from anywhere – even while you are not logged in. The Market also doubles as the game's item search: if you are looking for something, this is where you find out who sells it and for how much.
Opening the Market
- With the Market button on the sidebar along the right edge of the screen.
- With the Search button in your Inventory – the Market then opens with the search box ready.
- From the item menu (right-click an item) with Sell on the Market, which takes you straight to selling.
The window
The Market has two views:
- Listings – every live listing from other players.
- Mine – your own listings.
Type an item name (or part of one) into the search box at the top, and the list narrows to matching items. Each row shows the item's icon, name, quantity, total price and unit price, plus the seller's name. Results are sorted by unit price, cheapest first, 20 listings per page; use the arrows to page through them.
Hover over a row or click it, and the item's full tooltip appears next to the window – sockets and bonuses included – so you know exactly what you are buying.
Buying
- Find the item and select its row.
- Press Buy (or double-click the row).
- Confirm the purchase.
The price is deducted at once and the item goes into your bag. If someone beat you to it, the game tells you the item has already been sold – nothing is lost. You need enough gold and a free bag slot to buy.
Selling
- Press Sell…. Your inventory opens, and items that cannot be sold on the Market (such as quest items and items that cannot be traded) are shown in red.
- Right-click the item you want to sell.
- Enter your price in the price window, which previews the total and the price per piece.
- Confirm, and the item moves from your bag to the Market.
You can have up to 20 listings at a time. Remove a listing of your own in the Mine view with Withdraw (or a double-click); the item returns to your bag if there is room.
Earnings – even offline
The Market keeps selling while you are away:
- If you are online when an item sells, the gold is yours immediately and you get a message.
- If you are offline, the price is stored as earnings. When you log in, the game tells you how much is waiting, and the Earnings button in the Market window collects it in one go.
If collecting would put you over the gold limit, spend some gold first.
Restrictions
- The Market cannot be used while a trade, shop, storage or crafting (cube) window is open.
- You cannot list an item you are wearing – unequip it first.
- The game tells you right away if an item cannot be sold.
Buy orders – "Wanted" (in development)
The Market's new Wanted button will let you trade the other way round: you state what you are looking for, how many, and what you will pay for the lot. The gold is locked into the order; whoever sells you the item gets paid instantly, and the item is delivered to you by mail. You can also withdraw your own order. The interface is finished; the feature goes live with a server update.
